Hard Surface
Novapharm predicted that the ubiquitous incidence of antibiotic resistance would lead away from the use of “neutral detergents” on environmental surfaces towards hard surface disinfectants. Today, for “best practice” infection prevention compliance with hand asepsis guidelines alone is not sufficient.
Risks associated with cross-infection via environmental surfaces has been shown to be very significant.
Mould & Mildew
The advantage of the dual biocides within Evocide Extra is profound. Firstly, it broadens substantially the spectrum of kill of the product when it is first applied to the surface as a liquid. It ensures the high speed kill of bacteria, fungi, algae & lichen but critically also all viruses. Further it not only kills Fungi, Algae & lichen but by virtue of the bleaching activity of the hydrogen peroxide removes any of the dull, grey deposits / stains left by these organisms after they have been killed.
When the product dries, it forms a clear, invisible flexible film which is not in the least tacky. Upon touching the surface of the film there is sufficient biocide quat present to kill microorganisms that are deposited by the touch. The product will continue to perform thus for over 200 touches.
Apart from the dual biocidal actives the product also contains a surfactant system which is synergistic with the detergency of the quat itself thereby ensuring the excellent cleaning activity of the product.
Whilst the product has been primarily formulated for interior use there is no restriction on its use outdoors. It should be realised however, that the dry film, whilst not being readily soluble will, over time wash away with rain. Also, the product is itself biodegradable & therefore its residual properties are at best measured in months rather than years.
